The iPad was created for Animators!
As one of the first citizens in Denmark to get hold of an iPad, I was immediately aware, that this unbelievable thing, this magic slate is a gift for animators, amateurs or artists as well. Indeed it is a gift for all persons who are still blessed with a childlike imagination and creativity.
It is totally intoxicating to be able to make moving images, only using your two hands and your eyesight. And it is as much intoxicating to make animations simply by moving images or objects around outside as well as inside the iPad, letting the incredible slate itself perform its magical transformations.

This site is for animators
This site is for animators, for amateurs as well as for artist, who want to make animation on the iPad. The sole purpose of the site is to present an exquisite selection of the most functional or best animation apps on iPad.
The most functional and best animation apps for iPad
As an amateur animator myself I have tested all of the available animation apps for iPad, and these are the ones, who passed the exam. The Apps I have selected are for fun as well as for more serious work, and it is possible to make more elaborated or otherwise functional animations using them.
I have also tried to make the selection cover different areas of animation techniques: |
The Selection:
- Classical drawing frame by frame animation
- keyframe animation with drawed and/or cut out puppets - frame by frame, Stop Motion with cut out puppets - Classical Stop Motion with objects - photo animater - Gif maker I have excluded apps less functional or more lightweight in this selection |
